What would be the appropriate measurements for a single car garage?

I am planning to build a garage on my house, I need a little help with the required measurements. Please give measurements that would fit any kind of vehicle (specifically cars and vans)
to be able to park your car/van in the garage, you need a 2 car garage
by the time every one puts there stuff in it it will be full.
normal garage size is 10 foot wide by 20 feet deep.

Best way to demolish single-car garage?

I have an old 12x19' single car garage on my property and would like to take it down myself. I have already taken the 12x5' shed-roof addition on it, but am wondering if I am going about it the proper (read: safe) way.

Check your existing rafter bracing. It should have a 2x4 brace running end to end on bottom chord tying the rafters together. attach a 2x4 under the rafters full length near the peak , then run a diagonal from top to bottom. This will hold the rafters

We have an old 1920's single car garage which would like to demolish and rebuild.Ideally we would like to build a two car garage
with storage on top. Can we do this without planning permission
in a rural area?
It depends on the local planning regulations. It is worth a phone call to the Planning Department at your local Council to find out. There are usually regulations covering the size and height of the new building and its use. If you go ahead and rebuild
