i need some help in installing a bosch FC4 horn to a car with a relay. what is the function of the relay and what is the difference in using a relay and not using one?
the relay is a control of heavy current by a lighter current. The horns can draw 15 to 20 an\mps to blow. The horn wire going to the button will not handle this amperage or the contacts either.they will burn out quickly. In order to have the small horn button

I have a 1995 Lexus SC400, and I am a car guy I have been around cars and stand alone fuel injection systems before so I would consider my knowledge in the area to be advanced. This one has me though, whenever I go to start my car randomly it will not
Sounds like you already know. There's a bad connection. Probably in amoungst the fuse box itself. It's not the relay it's where your plugging it in. As far sas how much I tried Autozone.com and advanceautoparts.com and Lexus.comand nothing. You might

Should I buy a used main relay for my 1990 Honda Accord?
Jul 15, 2008 by H | Posted in Honda
The main relay in my 90 Honda Accord is defective like most early 90 model Accords. I can find a used, inexpensive one on Ebay. Should I be concerned that the used one might be defective or would it be safe to buy a used main relay to put in my car?
the relay is basically two sets of metal contacts and two windings of wire. when current flows through the coil windings it creates a magnetic field and pulls the metal contacts together. they are relatively simple devices.

How much will it cost to have my main relay replaced on my 99 Accord?
Aug 26, 2008 by nyolls | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a 99 accord. Intermitently, my car wont start. I just had a tuneup and everything else is fine. Seems to be when its hot out that this happens. When it wont start, i dont see the green key/immobilizer light come on the dash, and I can't shift
it will be the main relay. plan on spending about 1hr labor (around $100) plus the cost of the relay. it is not that hard to replace yourself. it is under the dash on the drivers side. just remove it from the bracket and unplug it.
